Hi everyone. Had a bit of trouble registering, but am now finally able to contribute to the forum.

My name is Michael, I'm yet another Aussie, now living in Italy and, needless to say, a big fan of Nik's. I'm from the same generation (born 1960) and so spent my carefree days listening to 80's new romantics, new wave, alternative rock and what have you.

I am actually a classically trained musician/musicolgist and have to admit that Nik is a recent disovery. I've always loved British 80s music, but was largely unfamiliar with Nik apart from a few of the better known songs like 'The Riddle', 'Wide Boy' and 'Wouldn't it be Good?'. I've always been heavily into singers like Kate Bush, Joe Jackson, Tears for Fears and New Order.

Anyway, I'm really thankful to have now become acquainted with Nik's other works, I honestly think he is a genius. His melodic and harmonic language is striking and original, and his lyrics are poetic and meaningful without being pretentious. Great voice, and fantastic guitarist.

On top of everything else, he seems a really modest and down-to-earth guy, not at all a 'wide boy!!
