How about a Rock Album? 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 5
Hi Guys, I've been a mad Nik Fan since 1984. I have loved every album Nik has released and feel he has gotten better with each one. I especially love 15 Minutes. I also like Howard Jones and liked it when he went accoustic in the early 90's and did a lot of Piano work.
Put simply, my point is, when i drive i like to deafen pedestrians with music and my awful sing along voice and i dont feel i can do that with Piano tunes.
However, when i load up the Riddle CD in the Car Audio System and select track 3, thats a different story.

What do you think?

I would like to start a Poll/Petition for Nik to record a Rock Album next. Something with very loud Guitars and Drums and a race along pace.

Are you with me?

You Might!

Ooooh YES!

however....
i have strange tastes and not to everyones liking.

Mr Kershaws skills would make a Very Good loud raucous album and i feel if he was so inclined he could deliver the goods in style.

right - got to go, just got given Gogol Bordellos latest album by my Son and feel the need to worry my co-workers by playing it on the p.c.
(told ye i had weird taste. )

I'm sure he's pondering on a rock album eventually. Right now he feels more acoustic than he does with an amplifier in his ears all the time. I'm certain he'll still do one down the road when he sees fit to.

Been thinking about this one all week. Can see where you're coming from with 'You Might', and I like rock songs. Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Evanescence and even Metallica will fill my headphones if I feel the need for something heavier.

I know Nik has a bit of a Deep Purple background, and that might be interesting to hear. Or Nik doing 'rockier stuff, along the lines of 'You Might', Or even Metallica covering 'The Riddle'. Now that would be interesting.

But interesting doesn't necessarily make a good album. And some ideas are best left as ideas. Metallica covering 'The Riddle' is probably one of them.

I'd be interested for Nik to maybe include a smattering of heavier guitar orientated songs on an album, but not necessarily devote an entire album in that direction. There's a nice enough vibe going on around him and his music at the moment without changing everything completely.

But if push came to shove, I'd sooner Nik chose the musical direction of the next album/albums. He's done alright so far.

cheers

I wouldnt dream of telling Nik what to do, and I love every new direction Nik has gone with each album.

I was just wondering what other people felt about the Rockier songs Nik has done in the past and whether they would like to see more. Songs like "You Might", "When a Heart Beats", "What the Papers Say" "Wouldnt it be Good". There is a great solo in "Promises, Promises" and several tracks on 15 Minutes. Its certainly not a new direction for him.

I am 26 years older too and I certainly dont dance like i used, and Dancing Girls is just right now. But sometimes i like to just break out, turn it up to Ten and scream. Hang on....Here comes the men in white coats....Gotta go..LABATYD.

I seem to remember seeing a video way back when of Nik at Hammersmith. Did you ever get to see that Philip? I seem to recall the intro to Wouldn't It be Good having a much harder edge to it. And liking it very much.

I'd have to agree cos I quite like to crank up the volume when I have the car to myself. However, as I have varied tastes in music, there is a funky side to Nik's music I'd like to hear more of.
