Hi everyone

I`m a 40 something Frenchman based in UK (Birmingham) but living and working at the moment in Japan (Tokyo).
I first heard of Nik Kershaw when I arrived in UK back in 1984. I instantly got hooked on his music. I remember going to the Hammersmith Odeon gig for my 20th birthday. And really enjoying his performance.
Since then I have tried to collect all his music, especially the 12" singles. The first somng I ever heard him sing was "I won`t let the sun go down on me" but my all time fave has always been "So Quiet" followed by "Have a nice life".

I have just found out about the 2 latest CDs released by Mr Kershaw and listened to them on Itunes. This guy hasn`t lost his touch!
It`s so exciting to be able to share views on this wonderful artist.

Regards from Tokyo
Guy-Paul (AKA Misto06)

I think it's about people being so set in their ways that they can't leave their little hell-hole surroundings to try something else. The phrase "Wild horses couldn't drag me (there)" is an old saying that just means "I do what I do and always will so leave me alone". This means though that this song is the exact opposite of "Wouldn't it be Good" - contrasting the frustrated desire to leave with the thick-willed stubbornness of staying for staying's sake.

Gone barmy for (The) Art of Noise again. It's a phase I go through every once in a while.
What song in particular? Probably "Close (to the Edit)" in it's many and varied forms. But everything really.
Art of Noise just released an excellent 2cd retrospective called "Influence" by the way, so that's probably why I've got it pounding into (and coming out of) my ears again just now.

Here we go,i got 'de ja vue' Googling Nick Berlin lol.

http://www.annecarlini.com/ex_interviews.php?id=1066

b) At what point did Nicholas become Nik (instead of Nick)? "When I was signing the deal with MCA. Anything eastern bloc was cool at the time so some idiot came up with the name Nik Berlin. We decided to stick with my actual name but I never got the c back!"

I'm sure if i'd found anything i would have posted it previously.Seems a bit wierd that The Riddle is tied with that name. Thanks for the other info Gary!!

Gary is right, Manda :)

If you really want to see Nik live you have to do what I finally decided to do (after having hesitated for a long time) - I left my country of Poland for Germany

It was really worth it!!! It was one of the happiest days of my life :)

I will try to write my review as soon as I get home, as I am staying in Hamburg for a couple of days.

thanks :)
sounds great!! though going over to germany from poland is much easier than travelling to england or germany from sweden, and especially as I'm only 20

I suppose it can vary on what brand you buy. I've had that same issue when I use blank cassette tapes. I could try a different CD to see how it works.

have to agree tho that it would of been so much better without the vocals.
obvioulsy the bloke on the piano doing the singing wasnt english so it just didnt sound wrght.
